Help from Sharon Elementary

It's been a great week - a couple of our dogs found new homes! No adoptions this weekend - we're getting ready for the May 5 tent event at Conyers Petsmart.

Our pet food pantry is receiving some much-needed help from the National Elementary Honor Society and Beta Club at Sharon Elementary School. They'll be running a pet food drive from now until May 16. The students at Sharon Elementary always collect lots of food. Our thank to Ms. Taylor for giving students the idea and helping them get started. We're excited to see how they do this year!

Some Thanks Due

Thanks to a couple of great supporters for donating to our pet food pantry. Monroe Animal Care Hospital of Monroe and the Positive Reinforcement Club at Loganville Middle both recently gave us enough food to fill up the back of a minivan! Kudos to you both, and I'm sure it's appreciated by all those pets that get fed because of the food pantry. You're helping dogs and cats stay in their homes and families, and that's awesome.

Plaaaaaaay Ball!

Join WAG for a great Sunday afternoon game at the home of the Gwinnett Braves, the minor league Triple A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves.

The Braves Foundation awarded WAG a $1,000 grant for the pet food pantry, helping keep pets with their families in a tough economy. On Sunday, May 6, 2012, we'll be the guest of honor at the stadium for the season's first Bark in the Park.

A block of field seats are reserved for WAG supporters. Tickets are only $5 each - contact us at wagwalton@yahoo.com to get your seats. This is a great bargain - hurry before they're all gone!

More WAG 'n Walk fun

Some exciting news for the WAG 'n Walk - part of our entertainment will be Gail Mirabella and the Dynamo Disc Dogs! Gail has been featured on Animal Planet, been part of Ringling Brothers Circus, and made hundreds of appearances with her talented pack of dogs. Don't miss her electrifying performance here in GA!

A great Easter for Lila

Another happy ending - Rosie, the pup who recently suffered a growth plate fracture, has mended and found a fantastic new home. Now named Lila, she's already snuggling up to her new best pal, Lydia.

We're grateful to everyone who donated or contributed to make Rosie's surgery a success. The smiles make it worth every penny!

A Maverick heads west

Congratulations to Maverick - he's on his way to a new home in Colorado with Kristina Johnson! Lucky dog - he'll get to roam the great outdoor range where the deer and the antelope play. We took Maverick to meet Kristina in Conyers, then said our good-byes and watched them drive away on a long journey home. Another happy rescue and adoption!

Adoption hiatus

Well, it's time to take a short break - a couple of our fosters have a respiratory infection and need to rest for a couple of weeks, so we'll give them some time and start adoptions back in 2 weeks. We love finding new homes for our pets, but their health comes first so we're gonna give everybody some rest and relaxation and time to get well!

WAG 'n Walk is coming!

Saturday, May 12, 11 am to 2 pm - the third annual WAG 'n Walk at Meridian Park in Loganville. It's gonna be great fun with games, prizes, music, food and fun. And it's the only Pet Festival in Walton County. A can't miss event!

Rilee's Playhouse

Haven't shared this news yet, but our WAG friends continue to amaze us! In early March pet lover Michelle Hatfield donated a large 10 x 16 storage building to us  - totally free! An awesome gift. Taylor's Wrecking Service in Monroe gave us a great price on moving it - and watching them wiggle that truck/building around corners and into place was impressive! Here are a couple of pics:

The building is at our foster coordinator Melanie's house and we're using it house more animals. It's a great space! Today it's getting insulated and a window A/C unit was put in to keep our pups cool during the hot weather.

Thanks to everyone who had a part in making this project a reality. The building has now been christened "Rilee's Playhouse" and is a comfortable place for our dogs to sleep at night.

Looking for vendors

W're getting ready for the May 12 WAG 'n Walk at Meridian Park, 11 am to 2 pm. Still have vendor spots available. It's a great crowd at Meridian, all products, crafts, services are welcome. Come join the fun. Vendor fee is $35. Visit our website www.wagwalton.com for more info.

Happily Ever After

Great day at adoptions - Charlotte, Chloe, and Claire found new homes. Heidi is on "trial" adoption, hope it works out for her, too. Take a look at Cloe and all her new stuff! I love happy endings.
