Here's Cookie!

This simple act of getting this little dog to eat a piece of meat from my hand took nearly 3 weeks. We rescued Cookie and her puppies from the shelter earlier this month. The pups are adorable sweethearts and love everyone. She was absolutely terrified of everything - people, noises, you name it. First week she'd try to frantically escape from any contact. Finally I could get a leash on her and walk her, but she'd stand frozen in place and wanted nothing to do anyone coming near her. But finally things are turning around - her tail is wagging, she'll eat out of my hand and let me pet her, however she's still very skittish. Very glad to have seemingly turned a corner and hope things keep getting better from here- she's been a tough Cookie to crumble.

Looking for a smart boy?

Here's our bright boy, Toby. He's growing - at about 8 months old, he's been with us since November. Not sure why he hasn't been adopted yet, other than some of our rescue dogs don't get noticed right away. But he's smart, listens well and learns quickly. OK- he's not perfect, but tries hard.  He deserves a home with someone who's looking for a bright canine companion, not just a backyard ornament. He'll be at Petsmart on Saturdays, come visit him!

Pet Food help

WAG made an emergency food delivery yesterday to a cat owning household - 75 lbs of cat food and 80 lbs of cat litter. Pet food pantry at F.I.S.H is available for owners needing pet food who qualify as low-income, but we hear there may be some confusion about who qualifies under FISH guidelines. We're looking to resolve that and possibly expanding the services. Lots of people still needing help!

WAG's Weekend of Love

A great Weekend of Love at the Snellville for Petsmart's National Adoptathon Weekend. Lots of dogs and cats looking for their forever homes and we enjoyed helping our friends at Pound Puppies 'n Kittens!
