Puppy Prevention success

It's been a busy year for the Puppy Prevention Program. A total of 108 puppies enrolled in the program since January. All have been spayed/neutered and gone onto new homes. Here are just a few of the moms who've been spayed, retired from puppy-rearing and will spend the rest of their lives being nothing more than loving family pets. Thanks to their caring owners for allowing WAG to help
their moms and babies!

Izzy's Happy Ending

Hundreds of WAG adoptions and we still love hearing the happy-ever-after stories. Thanks to the Page family for posting the following on Facebook about their sweet girl Izzy and allowing us to share with our friends:
This is our sweet Izzy that we got from Walton Animal Guild. As you can see from the puppy pic, how could we resist the sweet face and floppy ears. This organization is amazing. They rescue hundreds of animals every year and are truly a God sent. Izzy is now 2 years old and just the sweetest, cutest and funniest. We wouldn't have this awesome family member if it wasn't for WAG!! We love y'all and thank you for all you do!! If you are looking for a furbaby please look into rescuing atwww.wagwalton.com

WAG dogs are New Jersey Bound!

There's nothing better than great partnerships to help more animals. WAG is happy to renew our partnership with Burlington County Animal Alliance of New Jersey (BCAA). We've helped pull and transfer dogs in the past to this great group and thanks to our friend and their GA contact, Terry Rogers, we'll be working with them more in the months ahead. Some of you may recall Terry and her husband Jim drove us to our CT adoption events in their shuttle bus, and they continue to spend countless unpaid hours driving dogs to new homes in the northeast. Lots of dogs in the Walton County shelter owe their lives to these awesome folks and we're happy to help.
Several of our Puppy Prevention pups recently went to loving homes in NJ thanks to BCAA, so WAG dogs continue to find homes across this great nation of ours! wink emoticon Thanks to Terry and BCAA for reaching out and working with us!

Scooter's story

If you're involved in rescue long enough, you'll come across certain situations that convince you some things are just meant to be.
We posted Jasper's photo last week. He'd been rescued from the shelter and later tested positive for heartworms. But his lifesaving treatment is being funded by a wonderful donation through Scooter's Second Chance Friends, in memory of a much-loved pet.
Jasper's photo was spotted by Allison, who adopted a rescue dog from us several years ago. She knew he had to join their family. So on Saturday they drove to Conyers Petsmart and took Jasper home to live with them and his new brother, Monkey, the dog they previously adopted from us (and a whiskered look-alike).
And what did Jasper's new young owner choose for his new name - before they even came to pick him up? Scooter! Not because she saw the reference to Scooter's Second Chance Friends. Not because anyone asked her to. Because she thought it was the best name for him.
So congratulations to Scooter - and what a great way to carry on his benefactor's legacy.

Max's forever ending.

Max had a rough time for awhile - intestinal surgery and a recovery period. But our donors rallied around him, he rested and recuperated and finally has his own happy ending. Here's Max with his new parents - this sweet boy has gone to his forever home!

Saving Max

We try very hard to hold off on pleas for money. But when emergencies happen we need support to make it through those times. Baby Max needed emergency surgery today for an intusssusception. In simpleton terms, parts of his intestines folded into each other. Dr. Wise at Monroe Animal Care Hospital performed a 3 hour surgery today and had to remove a large piece of his intestine. At only 12 weeks old, his survival isn't guaranteed but we're determined to give him every possible chance.
Any donation, large or small, $1 or more, is appreciated. We'll keep you updated on Max's progress. Please hope for the best for this baby - we want to see him 100% better and going home with a loving family soon!
Here's the fundraising link:
Thank you so much for helping Max!

Honoring Lynda Deighton

We just learned of the passing of a very kind person, wonderful pet lover and WAG supporter - Lynda Deighton. Lynda and her husband Alan own and operated New London School of Driving in Snellville. Linda passed away on February 22. To honor her love of animals, her family thoughtfully designated WAG as the recipient of memorial donations for Lynda. We're grateful for their kindness during this time of loss. Our condolences go out to the Deighton family

Retiring Moms

Here are a couple of recently retired mama dogs - June and Scully. These two girls contributed 16 puppies to our Puppy Prevention program. All their babies were spayed/neutered and found great homes. Now both have been spayed and are officially retired from the Mom business, devoting their full attention to being happy family pets. Thanks to their owners Alicia and Kim for working with WAG to "fix" their puppy issues!
