Toby's Happy Ending

Happy Adoption Day for Toby! Today his perfect family came to see him, fell in love and took him home for what we hope is another WAG Happy-Ever-After tale. Big yard, lots of kids, dog parks and jogging with Dad - it doesn't get much better than that for a dog. Congratulations to Toby and the Klein's and welcome to the WAG family!

Some new fuzzy faces in the WAG adoption program - eight adorable puppies coming via our Puppy Prevention program. Four boys and four girls, different colors and markings. Mom is a Shepherd/Husky so they'll be big dogs. Sadie and her siblings just received their first set of vaccinations/deworming and will be ready for adoption in a few short weeks!

Meet Maggie!

Here's Maggie, a Catahoula mix rescued from Gwinnett who needed hip surgery. She's doing great now and is ready for her new home. Maggie is a very bright and friendly girl who's energetic and needs an owner that will spend time with her. She gets along great with our other dogs and loves attention from people.

Cookie goes home

Another WAG happy ending today as Cookie found her new home. You may remember Cookie was very frightened and took a lot of patience to bring her out of her shell. She's still skittish, but new mom Claire is perfectly fine with that. Cookiewill live in a nice quiet house with Claire, her husband and a cat friend. Travel is in her future, though, as both Claire and her husband are looking at post-retirement adventures with Cookie as their traveling companion. Sounds like an awesome life ahead for this cute girl!

Testing help

Thanks to our supporters, WAG was able to donate $165 to Walton County Animal Control to purchase a carton of dog heartworm tests. The shelter regularly tests dogs for heartworms, one of the reasons so many rescues pulls dogs from our local shelter. Providing these tests goes a long way in helping these wonderful and adoptable dogs leave the shelter!

End the Chaining of Dogs in Walton!

On March 11 the city of Monroe answered a call from concerned citizens when it passed an anti-tethering ordinance for dogs in the city. The practice of tethering or chaining dogs on a regular basis has been proven to be detrimental to the health and welfare of animals and more municipalities are enacting legislation to deal with the issue. Kudos to Monroe city officials for willingly tackling this topic.

A anti-tethering proposal was also brought before the Walton County Board of Commissioners in early March, but has yet to be acted on by the board. Let them know you opinion on the matter - contact your elected commissioner about this important issue! Find their contact information here:
